Lukas Podolski set for Juve talks according to reports
It is predominately about the strikers in this edition of the transfer rumour round-up as Alex Johnson still works on a Bank Holiday Monday.
The Daily Telegraph claims Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski will open talks with Juventus this week over a potential move to Turin.
The Germany international looks to be out of favour at the Emirates Stadiuml and wasn't in the match day squad for their 2-2 draw at Everton on Saturday.
Serie A champions Juve would prefer to take Podolski on loan for the rest of the season, but Arsenal would prefer a permanent deal for the 29-year-old.
Meanwhile, the Gunners look set to miss out on the capture of one of Podolski's international team-mates, Sami Khedira.
Despite the midfielder reportedly telling Real Madrid he wants to leave this summer, the La Liga giants appear to have brought an end to the recent rumours.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have all been chasing the World Cup winner, but Khedira is now set to remain in the Spanish capital.
When asked about the 27-year-old's future, Real coach Carlo Ancelotti said: "The issue with Khedira has also been resolved. He's staying and we're happy that's the case."
SportinaStorm.com report that Sunderland have approached Manchester United about the prospect of signing Danny Welbeck before the transfer window closes on September 1.
There has been mounting speculation that the England international will leave Old Trafford during the current transfer window, with the likes of Hull and Everton also believed to be interested.
But Sunderland, who held United to a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, are believed to be leading the race for the signature of a player they had on loan in the 2010-11 season.
Meanwhile, the Black Cats should hear this week whether their move for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini will be successful.
Gus Poyet made a bid for the Italian earlier this summer, after his impressive loan spell with the Black Cats last season. Although a fee was agreed between the two clubs, Borini indicated that he wanted to fight for his place at Anfield.
But with the Reds' imminent capture of Mario Balotelli, it looks like the former Swansea man may yet be on the move and Sunderland are still keen to sign the 23-year-old.
Finally, the Daily Star suggests QPR are looking to do a deal this week to take Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy to Loftus Road.
The 24-year-old has lost his first-choice birth to Adam Federici and the Royals boss, Nigel Adkins, has hinted that McCarthy may be hard for them to keep the former England Under-21 international.
