Football Bet of the Day: Bumbling Bromma to suffer a Swedish shock

Let's hope IK Frej find the route to Swedish success

Things didn't quite go according to plan yesterday, so Kevin Hatchard's hoping to get back on track with success in the Swedish Cup.

Pride comes before a fall, and I fell hard last night. When I went into the cinema to see Guardian Of The Galaxy (which is awesome, by the way), our boys Leiknir Reykjavik were 2-1 up at Senfoss and had a man advantage, after the hosts' Einar Otto Antonsson had been given his marching orders. By the time I came out, Senfoss had somehow grabbed an equaliser. Humph. No more talk of clairs.

Chastened, we stay in Scandinavia, and turn our attention to a Swedish Cup tie (18:00 KO) between third-division side IK Frej and top-flight strugglers Brommapojkarna.

Frej are having a cracking season in Division 1's Northern Section, and are second in the standings, just a point off top spot. They have won 11 of their 15 matches, losing just once, a 1-0 home defeat to third-placed Brage. Mike Lindstrom's boys have won five of their seven home games at their Vikingavallen ground, scoring an average of two goals per game.

While IK Frej have lost just once this season, Brommapojkarna have won just once in the Allsvenskan. They qualified for this season's Europa League through the UEFA Fair Play League, and the extra demands of that competition clearly took an early toll. They haven't won a game in the league since May, and they haven't picked up a single victory away from home in any competition all season.

Although there are two divisions of Swedish football separating these sides, this tip is based on the confidence that comes from winning regularly. Although Brommapojkarna almost certainly have a better side in terms of overall quality, their confidence is shot to pieces, and they are visiting a side that is challenging for promotion. The visitors are 1.875/6 to win the tie in 90 minutes, and that seems too short to me, so let's oppose them.
