Against All Odds: Oppose Luverdense at your peril

It's second tier action from Brazil tonight as Paul Robinson thinks that America MG have to be opposed for the visit of Luverdense.

America MG have dropped to fifth in the table following a spell of three defeats in four outings. That could prove to be somewhat of a psychological blow as while the season is still young - 16 games in - falling out of the promotion places is never a good thing.

Moacir Jnior's will be pleased to have his men back on home soil today as the Belo Horizonte based club have an excellent recent record in front of their own fans. So far this season they have won six out of seven at Estdio Independncia, although it is worth pointing out that four of those wins came against teams in the bottom half of the league.

Luverdense have made an excellent start to life in Serie B following their promotion last term as they are up in third place - just four points off the top. They were beaten last time out but prior to that they recorded victories at Avai and at home to Portuguesa.

Jnior Rocha's side may have lost three of their last five on the road but their overall record away from Passo das Emas this season is decent - two wins, three draws and three defeats. 

There is no questioning America MG's home results but they've lost a bit of momentum of late and that's not an easy thing to get back. With the plucky, Luverdense in town, trading at around the 1.824/5 mark, I have to make the hosts my lay of the day.
