Tottenham's new boss has made an excellent start
Andrew Hughes thinks Tottenham can earn their third win of the season on Sunday and help to land another cross-sport multiple in the process.
Bet 1: Back Tottenham to beat QPR at 1.51/2
A home defeat to Hull was not the best way for QPR to start their Premier League campaign and I can't see them picking up any points on Sunday either.
Rangers have a poor record in London derbies away from Loftus Road, winning just one of their last sixteen and they are up against a Tottenham side that has won all but two of their Premier League games at White Hart Lane in 2014.
Spurs have not been that convincing in either of their games so far this season, but they have emerged from away fixtures at West Ham and Limassol with two victories and will be boosted by the return of several first team players who were rested for the trip to Cyprus in midweek. Back Tottenham for three points.
Bet 2: Back Stephen Maguire to beat Judd Trump at 2.25n/a
The first round of the Paul Hunter Classic has thrown up a fascinating encounter between two players who had a poor 2013-14. Judd Trump won the Championship League, but that was the highlight of his year and Stephen ended the season as the world number 14, his lowest ranking in a decade.
After winning his first ranking title in nearly two years at the Australian Goldfields Open, Trump goes into this match as favourite, but I think Maguire is underestimated against this particular opponent. In the season's opening tournament, the Wuxi Classic, he thrashed Trump 5-0 and has won their last seven meetings going back to 2011. Back the Scot to make the second round.
Bet 3: Back Nico Rosberg to win the Belgian Grand Prix at 2.111/10
After a temporary break in the Mercedes dominance last time out, normal service should be resumed on Sunday. The twisting track in Hungary three weeks ago didn't play to their strengths, but the high speed circuit at Spa should give Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg another chance to demonstrate the superiority of their car.
Hamilton tends to grab the headlines and top the betting, but it is Rosberg who leads the Drivers Championship and who has been the more consistent of the two this year. Barring mechanical failure, this should be a two-horse race between a pair of well-matched drivers, and the sensible option is to plump for the German.
