Returning idol Diego Milito is leading Racing's title charge this season
The Argentine league goes into its third round of fixtures this weekend, and we got Ed Malyon to comb through for the value...
Tigre vs Racing Club - Saturday 00:30
We said at the start of the season, as we do virtually every campaign, that Racing have the squad to mount a serious title challenge.
We also said that they will probably do what they always do and find some way to stuff up their chances but so far the Academia have defied their own self-destructive tendencies and lead the Primera Divisin.
Granted, we've only had two games so far and therefore shouldn't be getting too carried away but a win against reigning continental champs San Lorenzo carries some kudos with it. They have looked good in both wins and go to Tigre full of confidence and boasting better talent on their bench than some of their opponents' first-string players.
Of course, that acts as no guarantee in any league, let alone one so prone to curious results as the Argentine Primera but despite Tigre, 2.9215/8, bringing in the likes of Carlos 'Chino' Luna over the off-season their squad does appear to have some pretty considerable holes still.
The return of Martin Galmarini from Mexico is a boost but only serves to compensate for the loss of Matas Perez Garca to the USA's MLS. They were kind of sucker-punched on the opening weekend against an evolving Vlez side but losing at Olimpo last week was a poor result and they've scored just once over the 180 minutes that comprise their new season.
It will be difficult to add to that against table-topping Racing, 3.02/1, who have conceded just a single goal while netting five this season and have a strong line-up to travel north of Buenos Aires tonight.
They certainly shouldn't be as long as they are to triumph in Victoria and 2.01n/a seems a good price to back Racing 0 on the Asian Handicap, even without the injured Gabriel Hauche.

Godoy Cruz vs River Plate - Monday 1:30
Godoy Cruz is the biggest club in the West of Argentina and it makes Mendoza one of the last footballing outposts before you reach Chile. But it is terribly run, and this summer it cost them a lot of their best players and their manager.
Boss Jorge Almirn left for Independiente after helping them overachieve with a fourth-placed finish last season. The entire first-choice back four has also upped sticks, and when you consider that was one of the strongest defences in the league it speaks much of the task new manager Carlos Mayor has in replacing them.
The return of striker Ruben Ramirez is about the only good news the club have got over the off-season as they appear to have sacrificed any major salaries in favour of coasting into the new thirty-team league format next year. The club are safe from relegation and thus are taking no risk by fielding a weakened side for the next few months, but you fear the fans may not enjoy it.
River Plate could be the side to take advantage this weekend and you can safely assume that despite winning the Torneo Final in June they will not similarly be taking the upcoming months off. Marcelo Gallardo has a lot to prove as manager and there have been some wise additions, so they should go relatively well in the campaign and visiting a weakened Godoy Cruz they look well-priced to take advantage.

Back River 0 on the Asian Handicap at 1.748/11
