Premier League on Betfair: Title favourites survive early scare to give Burnley the Blues

Plenty to smile about - Mourinho's men started with an easy win

Mike Norman has all the betting highlights as Chelsea come from a goal behind to beat relegation favourites Burnley in the live Monday Night Football fixture...

Chelsea produced a first half display of real quality to come from a goal behind and beat newly-promoted Burnley 1-3 at Turf Moor this evening.

After a bright start the home side took the lead in the 13th minute after the Blues defence failed to deal with a Clarets corner, the ball falling to Scott Arfield just inside the area who smashed the ball past Thibaut Courtois - given the nod in goal ahead of Petr Cech - into the far corner of the net.

Arfield was matched at 60.059/1 in the First Goalscorer market.

But Jose Mourinho's men responded in magnificent fashion and were 1-2 in front just eight minutes later thanks to a debut goal from 32m striker Diego Costa and a close-range finish from Andre Schurrle after a sublime pass from another new boy, Cesc Fabregas.

Costa was later booked for what referee Michael Oliver perceived as a dive by the Spanish striker, though replays showed that the Chelsea forward was definitely caught by Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

But just moments later the game was as good as over when Branislav Ivanovic volleyed home from close range following a Fabregas corner. Chelsea were matched at a high of 7.87/1 in the Half Time market.

In a relatively sedate second half the Premier League title favourites were never troubled defensively and controlled the game without ever threatening to add to their three-goal tally themselves, despite the appearance of club legend Didier Drogba with around 10 minutes to go.

Chelsea were matched at 2.3611/8 to win the game when they trailed early, while the 1-3 Correct Score was matched at a high of 19.018/1.

After the opening round of fixtures Chelsea can be backed at 2.56/4 to win the Premier League title, just ahead of Manchester City at 3.55/2, and Arsenal at 6.86/1. Burnley are available to back at 1.528/15 in the Relegation market.
