United completed the trip with a 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the International Champions Cup on Tuesday morning and van Gaal will now make a decision over the future of his first-team players.
The Daily Express claims the Dutchman is ready to offload Nani after being left unimpressed by the winger's performances, while Javier Hernandez and Shinji Kagawa are both wanted by Atletico Madrid.
Tour absentees Marouane Fellaini and Anderson are also up for sale, according to the same report, while the Daily Mail believes Everton are weighing up a move for 8million-rated Tom Cleverley.
One player who could be on his way to Old Trafford is Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen. The Belgian utility man has been identified as a summer target by van Gaal and The Sun claims he is refusing to discuss a new contract at the Emirates Stadium in an attempt to secure a move elsewhere.
Barcelona have also been linked with a move for Vermaelen and are widely expected to announce the signing of a new defender this week, but Spanish newspaper Marca believes the Catalan club will move for Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng instead.
Swansea City are considering selling star striker Wilfried Bony on a cut-price deal, according to the Daily Mirror. Despite Garry Monk's plea for the Ivory Coast striker to stay in South Wales, the newspaper believes Swansea are prepared to offload him for less than his 19million release clause.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur continue be linked with Bony but have made it clear they will not match the buy-out fee written into the 25-goal forward's contract.
Elsewhere, the Telegraph claim Tottenham Hotspur are close to concluding the 17m signing of Villarreal centre-back Mateo Musacchio, with Younes Kaboul heading to Serie A outfit Lazio.
Inter Milan have not made contact with Barcelona over an ambitious summer swoop for full-back Dani Alves, according to L'Equipe, while Italian news outlet Tuttosport says Liverpool have launched an 18million offer for Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Reports in the Daily Star claim Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has identified former Celtic striker Georgios Samaras as a surprise summer signing while West Brom are being linked with a 7m bid for the Greek's old team-mate Kris Commons.
Finally, Hatem Ben Arfa could be nearing a Newcastle exit but will have to take a huge pay cut to join Ligue 1 club Lyon, according to the Daily Express.
