Rumours: United to terminate Anderson's contract

Anderson's time at Old Trafford could be over

Manchester United are reportedly set to walk away from Anderson by paying off his contract. That and all the other rumours rounded up by Alex Johnson.

The Telegraph understands Manchester United are beginning to lose patience with midfielder Anderson and may terminate his contract.

The Red Devils will have to part with a fee in the region of 1.4million to end the Brazilian's current deal, which still has six months left to run. United have made it clear the former Porto man is no longer required and he will be available in the January transfer window. Anderson cost the Old Trafford outfit a fee in the region of 26million when he joined in 2007 and they will be lucky to reclaim half of that money if they receive any interest.

Staying at Old Trafford and boss Louis van Gaal is set to launch a January bid for Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar to try and ease his defensive woes. LVG and Vlaar worked together with Holland at the World Cup in Brazil over the summer and could be reunited in Manchester. The 29-year-old made an impressive start to the season for Villa until injury forced him on to the sidelines. Sky Sports have reported that a fee in the region of 8million may be enough to tempt the centre-back to United.

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp is set to be reunited with Jermaine Defoe for a fourth time with a January move from Toronto FC on the cards, according to the Mirror. Defoe has struggled to settle in the MLS after being convinced to make the switch by Ryan Nelson, who has since been sacked by the club. The England international penned a four-year deal in August but could be out the door sooner than he expected with Redknapp keen to add more threat to his attack. The striker almost secured a move to Loftus Road in the summer until Toronto refused to do business and insisted they would open talks again in the winter transfer window.

talkSPORT have reported that Chelsea could look to terminate Marco van Ginkel's loan spell with AC Milan if he is not handed more opportunities. The Holland international has only played 31 minutes since joining before the transfer deadline and he is understood be frustrated at his lack of action.

Van Ginkel's agent, Karel Jansen, said: "Chelsea have not pulled the plug but they might if the current situation continues."
