Against All Odds: Seventh heaven to come in France

Marcelo Bielsa has revolutionised Marseille

It's been a wonderful few days for Paul Robinson as six consecutive winners has him on the brink of completing the perfect week and he turns his attentions to France tonight for the big clash between PSG and Marseille.

Reigning champions, Paris Saint-Germain, have made a slightly stuttering start to their title defence. Although still unbeaten, six draws in their opening nine fixtures has left them off the early pace. Three wins on the spin have pushed them up to second now however and while they can't go top with victory this evening, they can close the gap on Marseille to a single point.

The goals have started to flow for the Parisians of late as they put three past both Lens and Bordeaux, and then two past Lorient last time. That was achieved without the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and there are strong suspicions that manager, Laurent Blanc, will throw him straight back into the team tonight following a heel injury.

Marseille have been a revelation this season under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa. The former Athletic Bilbao, Chile and Argentina manager has imposed his attacking style of play on his team and that has led to nine victories from 12, 27 goals scored and a four point lead at the top of Ligue One.

The problem he faces tonight is that he has some key players missing in the defensive areas as both Jeremy Morel and Alaixys Romao are unavailable for selection. That will leave L'OM vulnerable to the attacking prowess of the in-form Edison Cavani and co, so my feeling is that Bielsa will become even more attacking to try and 'out slug' his opponents.

One thing he does have in his favour is that PSG are also missing some more defensive minded players - Thiago Motta and Gregory van der Wiel being suspended, and Marco Verratti injured. Throw in the fact that the hosts have conceded in two of their last three at Parc des Princes and that Marseille have racked up 10 goals in their last four on the road, and you might draw the conclusion that this match will turn into a bit of a goal-fest.

French football isn't known for its goals, but the Bielsa led Marseille are the exception and not the rule. That's why, with under 3.5 trading at around the 1.422/5 mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
