Against All Odds: Goals to flow at River Plate

River Plate have had a fine year

The action comes from Argentina for Paul Robinson today as he thinks that the Primera Division clash between River Plate and Estudiantes will see at least three goals.

River Plate are on course to retain their title as they have a four point lead at the top after only 13 fixtures. 'Los Millonarios' are still unbeaten this season and they come into this match on the back of six straight wins in all competitions.

Marcelo Gallardo's side racked up 13 goals during that period but they only kept three clean sheets. They actually faced tonight's opponents on Wednesday in the Copa Sudamericana and while it was away from home, they won and the game finished with over 2.5 goals. Two of their last three in front of their own fans have also rewarded over 2.5 backers and they scored eight times during those outings.

Estudiantes narrowly missed out on the league title last year after looking set to win it for the first time since 2010. They haven't been able to recapture that kind of form this term though as after 13 matches, they've won only six times, to leave themselves in eighth place.

As far as the goals go, with 16 scored and the same amount conceded at the other end, their games this year are averaging 2.46 goals each time. Over half have finished with three or more - including three of their last five.

This should be a relatively routine home win, but I certainly wouldn't rule out the visitors from scoring. That's why, with under 2.5 goals trading at around the 1.824/5 mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
