Transfer Talk: Wenger set to drop ВЈ63million on two players

Arsene Wenger is ready to spent some real money this January

Arsenal top the transfer talk stories for today and if the reports are true then boy do they mean business.

Arsenal are reportedly planning to open talks with Borussia Dortmund over a 63m double deal for Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan.

The Daily Star says the Gunners are interested in both BVB stalwarts, although they will face significant competition for Germany international Hummels should he become available.

The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with Manchester United and boss Louis van Gaal is desperate to land him.

Meanwhile, defensive midfielder Gundogan returned this season from over a year out with a back injury but that has not stopped Arsenal taking an interest.

Arsenal could be busy in the remainder of this month's transfer window, with Sky Sports claiming they are close to completing a deal for Legia Warsaw youngster Krystian Bielik.

The north London outfit are said to have agreed a fee for the Polish midfielder in the region of 2million.

Finally on Arsenal, and Tottenham are reportedly ready to rival their local rivals for West Ham defender Winston Reid.

The New Zealander, who is set to become a free agent this summer, has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium but Spurs have now thrown their hat into the ring, according to the Daily Mirror.

Elsewhere, Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini claims to have snubbed Manchester United's interest in Argentine striker Paulo Dybala.

With Radamel Falcao's future at Old Trafford far from certain, United are said to be drawing up a list of attacking options.

Dybala, 21, has been valued at 31million by his Italian club and Zamparini has ruled out selling him in January, although he has been quoted in the Guardian as saying he could be open to him moving to United in the summer.

Liverpool are being linked with a move for Club Brugge goalkeeper Mathew Ryan in the Daily Mail as their search for a new shot stopper continues.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to replace current No.1 Simon Mignolet and Australia international Ryan has caught the eye after being named goalkeeper of the year in Belgium last season.

Finally, Swansea are ready to reinvest some of the 28million they received from Manchester City for Wilfried Bony to sign Stuttgart midfielder Alexandru Maxim.

Swans boss Garry Monk is happy to wait until the summer to bring in a direct replacement for Bony and is instead targeting Maxim and a new full-back, according to the Telegraph.

Romania international Maxim has scored nine goals in Germany this season and is valued at around 5million.
