Gary Cahill is fighting for his Chelsea future
Chelsea's Gary Cahill is going to have to battle for his place in Jose Mourinho's plans with the boss looking to bolster his defense.
The England international is already having to battle with Kurt Zouma for his place alongside skipper John Terry at Stamford Bridge this season but the summer could provide further competition for Cahill.
According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho is looking to lure Raphael Varane from former club Real Madrid, with the French international finding himself down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu with Sergio Ramos and Pepe ahead of him.
The 'Special One' is hoping the lack of regular football in the Spanish capital will be enough to lure Varane to the Bridge to form part of what could be a new-look Chelsea back four in the Premier League next season.
Meanwhile, Burnley striker Danny Ings is hoping Liverpool return for him this summer when his deal at Turf Moor comes to an end.
Real Sociedad and their manager David Moyes were hoping to sign the England Under-21 international before the end of the winter transfer window but the Daily Mirror suggest Ings is holding out for a move to Anfield in the summer.
However, with Divock Origi set to arrive on Merseyside from Lille at the end of the Premier League season, it's not certain the Reds will be looking to add another striker to their squad.
Moving on to news from AC Milan and midfielder Michael Essien could be on his way to the MLS if he decides to call time on his spell in Serie A.
Essien's agent Fabrizio Ferrari has revealed the former Chelsea star is considering a move to the United States, with Orlando thought to be the favourites to sign the Ghana international.
Ferrari told Sky Italia: "We have not got any satisfying offer for the moment, we are looking for offers for next season. Orlando? You never know. The MLS is a really interesting league. Should offers arrive, they will be evaluated."
Finally, QPR could still make a move for striker Dani Osvaldo this summer after missing out on the Southampton player on deadline day.
Harry Redknapp was hoping to lure the player to Loftus Road before the 11pm deadline on Monday but if the R's do stay in the top flight this term he might go back in for Osvaldo in the summer.
