Jose Maria Olazabal keeps to the script as he names Ian Poulter and Nicolas Colsaerts as his two wildcard picks for the 2012 Ryder Cup
Ian Poulter and Nicolas Colsaerts have been named as Europe's two wildcard picks for the upcoming Ryder Cup.
The duo join Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Graeme McDowell, Paul Lawrie, Francesco Molinari, Luke Donald, Lee Westwood, Sergio Garcia, Peter Hanson and Martin Kaymer on the team.
Captain Jose Maria Olazabal's selection means Padraig Harrington will not be part of the 12 heading for Medinah at the end of the month.
Poulter, a match play genius, was always likely to receive a pick, especially after his strong showing at this month's USPGA.
Colsaerts' selection is a touch more surprising but the 29-year-old Belgian has enjoyed a banner year and won the World Match Play Championship in May. His enormous length off the tee gives Olazabal an interesting weapon throughout the competition, which runs from September 28-30. .
Europe continue to drift in the betting and can be backed at 2.56/4 to win the Cup once again. The US are 1.910/11, with the draw trading at 13.012/1.
US captain Davis Love III names his team on September 3.
