Will Honka layers have the flags out at full time?
With just one defeat in their last seven away games, VPS will be in good spirits for today's trip to Honka in the Finnish Veikkausliiga. It's surprising then, that Honka are odds-on to pick up the win, says Paul Robinson...
With five winners out of the last six, we're on a bit of a roll and we go back to Finland today after Sunday's success. Our lay of KuPS was never in doubt as JJK led 3-1 after half an hour and not even a late consolation from the home side could scupper our chances.
Honka are currently seventh in the table after collecting 32 points from their 22 fixtures to date. After a poor start to the campaign which yielded just two points from their opening five matches, Mika Lehkosuo's men have turned things around with nine victories in the last 17. The side from Espoo are on a nice little run at their home of Tapiolan Urheilupuisto at the moment; undefeated in eight with six of them victories. The two draws have come in the last four though and their defence hasn't exactly been rock solid given that they've conceded two goals in three of their last five.
VPS are one place and one point ahead of this afternoon's opponents so they will be looking to avoid defeat to at least maintain their current standing. It's been a decent season for Olli Huttunen's side and they are on course to better 2011's ninth placed finish. They are in relatively decent form coming into this one; a single defeat in five and unbeaten on the road in three. In fact, their away form is better than that as it's just one loss in seven, including a 1-1 draw with league leaders, Inter Turku, back in June.
For me, Honka's price is too short. Not only are VPS very resilient away from home, they have only lost one of their last five visits to Tapiolan Urheilupuisto. The 1.9310/11 represents no value whatsoever about a home victory and I have to make Honka my lay of the day.
