Against All Odds: KuPS backers need glasses

KuPS host JJK in the Finnish Veikkausliiga this afternoon and they are a shade of odds-on to pick up the victory. Their home form leaves a lot to be desired though and Paul Robinson believes they are too short and should be taken on.

The goals came thick and fast at Villa Park yesterday and it's now four winners out of five. Even though it's a Sunday, I'm not resting on my laurels and I'm looking to make it five out of six.

KuPS are currently 10th in the table with 25 points from their 22 fixtures to date. It's been a disappointing campaign for Esa Pekonen's men and it's taken three wins in the last five to lift them off the bottom of the league. Their main problem has been scoring goals as with just 23 scored, they are averaging marginally over a goal a game, and are the second lowest scorers in the division. As mentioned though, The Canaries are showing some better form recently with nine points from a possible 12. I'm still not sold on their chances for today though as their last two victories came about from late goals, with the last one against Lahti coming against 10 men.

JJK are one place and two points ahead of their opponents and if KuPS were enduring a disappointing season, then it's been a disastrous one for last year's third place finishers. The problem for Kari Martonen's side has been at the back as with 43 conceded, they have the second worst defensive record in the league. The Foxes had been slowly turning their campaign round though, going five matches with just a single defeat, however back to back losses have now pushed them back down towards the bottom. It should be noted though that those two defeats were against top half opposition and their form on the road hasn't been too bad in 2012, avoiding defeat on six out of 11 occasions.

This seems like a pretty even contest to me and while KuPS do have home advantage, I can't have them as odds-on shots, so with their price at 1.9620/21 I have to make them my lay of the day.
