Theo Walcott could leave Arsenal after negotiations stalled
As the transfer window draws to a close, Theo Walcott is the latest big name to be linked with a switch before Friday's 23:00 deadline...
Theo Walcott has failed to reach an agreement with Arsenal over a proposed contract extension, fuelling speculation the winger could be on his way out of the Emirates.
The 23-year-old has one year left on his contract at the north London club and has so far refused to sign a new five-year deal believed to be worth around 75,000-per-week. Reports suggest that Arsenal will sell the player if he does not take them up on this latest offer.
Walcott's future has been the subject of intense speculation this summer as the two parties have stalled over negotiations, even though the player himself has made it clear that he would like to stay.
A possible destination which has been consistently mooted is Anfield, where Walcott could join boyhood heroes Liverpool, with Brendan Rodgers making no secret of his admiration for the player.
Ironically, the Gunners travel to Liverpool this Sunday with both clubs searching for a first win of the season and, after two disappointing draws, Arsenal are 4.03/1 to get the three points.
However, with Scott Sinclair's proposed move to Manchester City encountering difficulties this week, we could see yet another sensational switch to the Etihad Stadium for an Arsenal star, following the moves of Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy last summer.
This would be a bitter pill for Gunners fans to swallow if they were to lose yet another top player to a rival Premier League club.
The Sinclair deal is still possible but it appears that Swansea will only sell on their own terms, which Man City have not been prepared to match so far.
Despite being without Sinclair for the first two games while negotiations have taken place, Swansea have made a blistering start to their campaign and are now 2.35/4 to make it a hat-trick of wins at home to Sunderland on Saturday.
