Will Trader Jack come up the Goodwood straight in first place?
For today's Follow The Money we got to the meetings at Beverley, Goodwood and Yarmouth...
The opening race at Yarmouth, due off at 14:00, has seen a big positive move for Nargys, who has contracted from 2.245/4 in to 1.774/5. Racing back at 6f today after 7f might have just stretched her stamina on soft ground at Newmarket last time there is a lot to like about this Luca Cumani inmate. With plenty of potential for improvement, Kieren Fallon on steering duty and the market confidence it would be a big surprise if she didn't get her head in front today.
Mister Marcasite has been drifting all morning in the 14:20 at Beverley. Matched earlier at prices as low as 2.3811/8 he can now be bought at around 3.1511/5. Given that his second place at Newcastle first time out 9 days ago reads well amongst these, it may be somewhat puzzling that he's taken such a walk in the market. However, there are any number of improvers amongst this two year old field, and Mister Marcasite rates as a tentative lay for our punters today.
Moving on to the 14:45 1m2f Handicap at Goodwood where Trader Jack has been backed in to favourite with us, moving from an adjusted high of 6.37n/a in to 3.814/5. On the face of it this race looks a fairly tricky affair to work out with a few that command respect. There are plenty of positives for our selection though. He ran creditably during the Glorious meeting here over 1m4f to finish fifth, where he experienced trouble in running. The drop back in trip will suit as he proved when a very good second over course and distance in May. So with plenty of confidence from our backers, good course form in the book, and with the trip and ground right up his street Trader Jack is expected to run very well today.
