The 11th seed has looked in good form in her last two outings
Only three of the top 10 seeds remain in New York and Abelson Info preview the last of the fourth round matches on Monday...
The top seeds continued to tumble out of the tournament over the weekend - we lost the likes of Jelena Jankovic, Lucie Safarova and Maria Sharapova on Sunday alone.
As a result, the bottom half of the draw is now wide open for an unfancied name to emerge and make the final, and it remains to be seen whether or not a pattern will follow on Monday. Two-time defending champion Serena Williams will be hoping to avoid a similar fate as she prepares to face Kaia Kanepi.
Having highlighted the level of competition in the other quarters ahead of the tournament, the world number one now has the more difficult looking path to the final.
Nevertheless, she will be confident of her chances in beating Kanepi for a fourth consecutive time, with all three wins coming in straight sets previously.
As expected, there is little value to be had in the match odds market, but the Estonian has given her rival a decent run out on all three occasions, so the games market could be worth further investigation.
Hoping to face Williams in the quarter-finals are Flavia Pennetta and Casey Dellacqua. The Italian clearly loves playing here and has picked up from where she left off last year.
Aside from a slight wobble in the first round, the 11th seed has looked in good form in her last two outings while in contrast Dellacqua has been the distance in consecutive matches.
The Australian is also enjoying a good run of form and in turn a rise up the world rankings, but we are backing Pennetta to come through this test to continue her recent success in New York.
Elsewhere, if you're looking for an early contender for surprise package of the tournament, then look no further than qualifier Alexsandra Krunic. The Serbian ace is ranked 145 in the world, but that hasn't stopped her from beating both Madison Keys and Petra Kvitova en route to setting up a meeting with Victoria Azarenka.
Despite the Belarusian seemingly improving with each round and getting back to somewhere near her best form, there is no telling what Krunic is capable of this week.
If this is the end of her run, then she will be delighted with what she has achieved. However, with no pressure on her shoulders and having already exceeded her expectations, the ability to play freely against Azarenka who will be under pressure to win, could work in her favour.
Having proven that she isn't overawed by the occasion, there is value to be had in the games market with Krunic to make it competitive.
Meanwhile, world number eight Eugenie Bouchard looks to have a tricky fourth round match on her hands against Ekaterina Makarova. The Russian won their only previous meeting which was in Washington last year, and given the number of upsets we have seen over the last week, Bouchard is at risk.
However, the Canadian ace relishes playing in Grand Slams under pressure, and it's a surprise to see her at even money to win. They look like good odds to us.
