River Plate have lost before and they'll lose again
It's Argentinian action for Paul Robinson tonight as he's taking Arsenal de Sarandi to put a stop to River Plate's rampant run.
Arsenal de Sarandi v River Plate
Thursday September 25, 23:10 BST
Arsenal have made a mixed start to their campaign as after winning three of their first five outings, they have been beaten the last twice. Both of those were on the road though - at Quilmes and Rosario Central - but on home turf, it's been three wins from three this term.
In fact, the club that Martin Palermo took over as manager of back in April have had an excellent record at Estadio Viaducto in recent years. Since the beginning of 2012, 'Los del Viaducto' have lost just 11 times - a spell of 51 games.
River Plate are the team to beat at the moment as after storming to the Torneo Final in May, they have continued their excellent form into this season. Six wins and a draw from their first seven fixtures has them sitting pretty at the top of the Primera Division and with 19 goals scored, they have netted five more than any other club.
It's hard to pick holes in Marcelo Gallardo's men but it is worth pointing out that the points they have dropped this year came on the road. Also, if we look at a bigger sample size, even when winning the title last semester, only three of their 10 away matches ended with 'Los Millonarios' on top.
Betting is all about value and despite the visitors being the worthy favourites, they have to be opposed at the prices. That's why, with River Plate trading at around the 1.855/6 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
