Transfor Rumours: Could van Gaal really sell Luke Shaw?

Could Luke Shaw really leave Manchester United so soon?

My decision to add Luke Shaw to my fantasy team seems to have backfired but according to talkSPORT, the new United gaffer doesn't rate him. All this and more in our transfer rumour round-up.

Aston Villa could face a battle to keep captain Ron Vlaar in January with Manchester United and Arsenal both interested.

According to the Daily Express, the Red Devils and the Gunners are keen on the Dutch international and see the centre-back as a key addition to their respective squads.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and Villa manager Paul Lambert will most likely want to make a profit from selling the defender, instead of losing the skipper on a free transfer in the summer.

Vlaar was expected to leave the club in the last window but rejected advances from a number of top European sides, however renewed interest from the likes of Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal could prove too much to resist.

Looking at some potential exits from Old Trafford in January and Juan Mata could be on his way out of Manchester United, just a year after joining from Chelsea in a big-money deal.

According to The Sun newspaper, manager Van Gaal questioned the role of the attacking midfielder before the game against Leicester City on Sunday, a match they ended up losing 5-3.

Mata is said to be unhappy with comments from the Dutchman and is now seeking a possible exit this January, especially given the fact that Ander Herrera, Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao have forced the Spain international out of the starting XI.

In more news from Old Trafford, Luke Shaw could be facing a tricky time at the club following comments from former Red Devils coach Rene Meulensteen, who believes Van Gaal does not rate the left-back, according to talkSPORT.

The 19-year-old made the switch from Southampton for 31.5million in the summer, but the youngster has failed to make an impact due to injury problems picked up after the World Cup.

Shaw is the most expensive left-back in the world but it may not stop Van Gaal offloading the England international, with Arsenal and Chelsea both said to be interested.

Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Stromsgodset midfielder Martin Odegaard in the next transfer window, but they face severe competition from Serie A giants Roma, according to the Daily Express.

The 15-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in the game at the moment and boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to add the youngster to the Reds' youth ranks.

The Norwegian has already been compared to Barcelona and Argentina international Lionel Messi, and Liverpool, along with Roma, are said to be preparing a substantial offer.
