Football Bet of the Day: Todd to show he's still got the old magic

Colin Todd has been a manager for nearly 25 years

Kevin Hatchard's on the hunt for back-to-back winners, and he's turned to an English managerial stalwart in his search for profit.

Randers v Silkeborg
Friday September 19, 17:30

Just as I write this, "Tattoo Trish" is completing a masterpiece across my back, a depiction of Belgian wing wizard Dries Mertens in full flow. Ok, not really, but I owe Napoli's Mertens a pint of finest blond ale after his double against Sparta Prague secured us a winner.

To the home of Lurpak then (lovely on a crumpet), and a Danish Superliga clash between Randers and the bottom side Silkeborg. It's been a rough campaign for SIF under Jesper Sorensen, with no wins in the first seven matches. This is perhaps not a surprise, as Silkeborg were playing in the division below last season, although their fellow new-boys Hobro (regular contributors to this column) have adapted much better.

Silkeborg are particularly poor in attack, and didn't score in any of their first five league games. Midfielder Emil Scheel is the only man in the whole Silkeborg squad to have found the net this term.

Silkeborg have taken just a point from their three away games, and I suspect they are in for another tricky away day. Although Randers have stumbled slightly after a strong start, they are still in the healthy position of fourth in the 12-team division, having won four of their first seven games.

Vastly experienced English gaffer Colin Todd (in his second spell as Randers boss) has put together a well-balanced team. The defence has plenty of experience, and has conceded just seven goals in seven games, making it the third best rearguard in the league. In attack, footballing "Marco Polo" Djiby Fall (he has played in five countries in the space of seven years) is the main man, having netted three goals in seven games.

Randers have won two of their three home games, and at 1.814/5, they look overpriced to make it three out of four.

Recommended Bet
