Premier League on Betfair: Liverpool return to winning ways but Gunners held

Raheem Sterling gave Liverpool the lead at White Hart Lane

There were three games in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon and here Mike Norman tells us about all the significant odds matched...

Liverpool bounced back from their 3-1 defeat at Manchester City on Monday night with a convincing 0-3 win over Tottenham at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

Brendand Rodgers chose to start with new signing Mario Balotelli in attack alongside Daniel Sturridge with the increasingly-impressive Raheem Sterling just behind, and it was the latter who gave the Reds the lead not long after Balotelli had missed a glorious opportunity with a header.

Sturridge played in Jordan Henderson down the right and the former Sunderland man's clever ball across the box was turned home from a tight angle by Sterling. The youngster was matched at 14.013/1 in the First Goalscorer market.

The Reds had to wait until the second half to increase their advantage and it came courtesy of Steven Gerrard's first goal of the season from the penalty spot after Eric Dier had pulled back Joe Allen in the box.

The goal of the game however came on the hour mark thanks to a brilliant solo effort from Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno who ran from his own half, continued into the box, and fired a low shot across goal into the far corner.

Liverpool were matched at a high of 2.962/1 to win the game, while the 0-3 Correct Score was matched at 42.041/1 In-Play.

In the late afternoon kick-off Arsenal were held 1-1 at the King Power Stadium despite taking an early lead and registering over 25 shots at the Leicester goal.

Alexis Sanchez (matched at 9.08/1 to open the scoring) scored his first Premier League goal for the Gunners but the Foxes were level in the space of a few minutes when Leo Ulloa headed home a Jeff Schlupp left-wing cross. The 1-1 Half Time Score was matched at 14.5n/a.

Despite Arsenal having the majority of possession and more shots at goal they rarely threatened to regain the lead though Yaya Sanogo was guilty of wasting the away side's best chances. The 1-1 Correct Score hit a high of 11.010/1 In-Play.

After today's results Liverpool have shortened to 12.011/1 to win the title, just ahead of Arsenal who trade at 14.013/1. Chelsea remain the odds-on 1.8810/11 favourites following yesterday's games with Man City next best at 4.03/1.

In Sunday's other game Aston Villa maintained their unbeaten start to the league campaign with a narrow 2-1 victory over Hull at Villa Park.

Gabriel Agbonlahor - matched at 9.08/1 to score first - and Andreas Weimann gave the home side a 2-0 first half lead but a goal from Nikica Jelavic 15 minutes from time set up a nervous end for the Villa faithful.

And Paul Lambert's men had Brad Guzan to thank for the victory after superbly saving a Jake Livermore curling effort late in the game. Villa were matched at 2.6213/8 to win the match with the 2-1 Correct Score hitting a high of 13.5n/a.
