Deadline Day Transfer Rumours - Afternoon Edition

Fabio Borini may be QPR bound instead of Sunderland

We are still four hours away from Jim White but we have plenty of transfer rumours flying about. Alex Johnson rounds it up.

Crystal Palace look like winning the race to sign the Wigan midfielder James McArthur, despite Leicester City's best attempts.

It was thought the Scotland international would be on his way to the King Power Stadium before Monday's deadline, after Leicester and Wigan agreed a fee for the 26-year-old.

But the BBC claim Palace have stepped in and stolen a march on the Foxes, with McArthur due to undergo a medical at Selhurst Park before putting pen-to-paper on a contract.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports suggest Aston Villa have made a bid for the Real Sociedad attacking midfielder Sergio Canales.

Paul Lambert is keen to add to new faces to his thin squad and midfield is the main area he is looking to strengthen ahead of the 11pm deadline.

Canales only joined Real Sociedad from Valencia in January, but the 23-year-old has been scouted by a number of clubs and Villa are keen to do a deal.

That may well have an impact on the future of Tom Cleverley, with the Manchester United man understood to be one of the options for the Villa manager.

SportinaStorm.com are reporting that Manchester United are looking to beat a host of rivals to the signing of 15-year-old Norwegian midfield prodigy Martin Odegaard.

The teenager, dubbed by some the 'Norwegian Messi' has been left out of the senior squad for next week's international friendly against England at Wembley, leading to more speculation that he could be on the move.

United are understood to have opened talks with Stromsgodset for Odegaard, who was watched by the Premier League club's Scandinavian scout after making his international debut against UAE last week.

The BBC say Queen's Park Rangers have made a late bid to sign Liverpool striker Fabio Borini, who has slipped further down the pecking order at Anfield.

Earlier this summer, the former Swansea man looked set to join Sunderland - where he enjoyed a successful loan spell last term. But the 23-year-old turned down the move in order to battle for a first-team place at Liverpool.

But following the recent capture of Mario Balotelli, Borini could yet move on from Anfield before the transfer deadline closes at 11pm on Monday.

Finally, reports in Italy claim Newcastle defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is poised to complete a loan move to Roma.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Magpies in January 2013, is in Rome to discuss terms on a season-long switch.
