City & United to battle over Benfica midfielder

Louis van Gaal is being linked with Andre Gomes from Benfica

Manchester City and Manchester United have both been linked with a move for Andre Gomes according to the Daily Express.

Roma manager Rudi Garcia has revealed that the Italian outfit do not have a deal in place to sign Adrien Rabiot from PSG.

The 19-year-old has been attracting interest from a number of clubs with Arsenal also heavily linked with a move for his services, according to Canal+. The defender has been omitted from the Ligue 1 sides Champions League squad adding further fuel to the fire that he will be departing when the January transfer window comes around. Roma did launch a bid to try and sign Rabiot over the summer but saw their advances knocked back. Garcia confirmed that the club are still looking get their target but insists no deal has been put in place.

The Daily Mail has reported that Tottenham are set to go head-to-head with Portuguese giants Benfica as they bid to try and sign Jonas. The Brazilian striker is currently a free agent after being released by La Liga side Valencia at the end of last season.

Mauricio Pochettino sees the 30-year-old as a good option to bring in as cover up front with just three recognised out-and-out strikers at his disposal. The British publication understands that Spurs will look to secure a move for the former Santos man before Pochettino has the opportunity to dip back into the market in January for a more long-term addition. Benfica are reported to have already entered into talks with Jonas and the Premier League side will have to move swiftly to ensure they are not beaten to the punch.

Manchester United and Manchester City are both looking at making a move for Benfica's highly-rated midfielder Andre Gomes, according to the Daily Express. United were heavily linked with Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal over the summer but failed to tempt the Chile international to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have seemingly accepted defeat and have not turned their attentions to 21-year-old Gomes. However, they will face strong competition from neighbours City, who have the advantage of Champions League football to offer. Reports have suggested that the Portugal international would be available for a fee in the region of 14million.

Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Christoph Kramer is attracting interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus all pondering a move. Bild has reported that the 23-year-old, who is currently on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach could be in high-demand once the January transfer window opens. The holding midfielder was a member of the Germany squad that claimed victory at the World Cup in Brazil this summer and has claimed seven caps for his country.
