Robin van Persie and Yaya Toure are targets for Real Madrid in January

Could Glen Johnson be Juventus bound in January?

Just how many players do Real Madrid need? According to reports in the media today they are looking at two Premier League stars for the January transfer window. Alex Johnson looks at these and other media rumours.

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson could be set for a January move to Serie A champions Juventus, according to The Mirror.

The 30-year-old right-back is out of contract at Anfield next summer and Liverpool may be tempted to sell for a cut-price fee in January rather than allow him to leave as a free agent at the end of the campaign.

Liverpool signed Javier Manquillo in the summer and as such boss Brendan Rodgers could be happy to allow Johnson to join a European side in January and Juventus would be an attractive option for the England international.

The Daily Express have claimed Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal are all interested in Lazio's Antonio Candreva, but the Serie A outfit plan to offer the midfielder a new deal in a bid to ward off interest from the Premier League.

Hull City splashed out 2.5million to sign Harry Maguire from Sheffield United this summer but the Tigers are planning to send the defender out on loan, according to The Sun.

The Blades have been linked with the 21-year-old but a host of Championship clubs are ready to rival Maguire's former side for his signature, with the report suggesting the likes of Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers and Reading are all keen.

According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger activated the 12million euro release clause in Barcelona academy star Sergi Samper's contract during the summer but the 19-year-old rejected the offer as he is keen to establish himself at Camp Nou and it appears unlikely that the Gunners will return with a fresh offer for the youngster.

The arrival of Radamel Falcao at Manchester United has led to questions over the future of Robin van Persie and the Express have suggested Real Madrid are preparing a January bid for the Dutchman.

Los Blancos, who signed Javier Hernandez on loan from United during the summer, are reportedly readying a 25million move for the former Arsenal striker, although van Persie himself has recently stated he "can't wait to go and train and play with the world class players" his side have signed over the summer.

Real could be ready to make a double swoop on the Premier League in January if The Mirror are to be believed as they claim the Spanish giants are considering a move for Manchester City talisman Yaya Toure.

Toure has stressed he is happy at the Etihad Stadium but there were reports of unrest earlier in the summer and Real are on the lookout for midfield reinforcements following Xabi Alonso's move to Bayern Munich.
