Manchester United to continue splashing the cash in January

Jermain Defoe could still end up at QPR in January

Louis van Gaal isn't done if the media reports are accurate and January could be a busy month for the Old Trafford club. Plenty of transfer talk even though the window has slammed shut.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will continue to spend in January despite investing 150million in new signings this summer.

The Red Devils have already signed Luke Shaw, Marcus Rojo, Ander Herrera, Angel Di Maria, Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao this season, but they look set to add another player to their ranks.

Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman is reportedly the next name on Van Gaal's list, according to the Daily Mail.

The Netherlands midfielder is currently on the sidelines with a serious knee injury but the club are willing to pay 25million for his services if he can prove his fitness by January.

The same paper also suggests that Di Maria wanted to join Paris Saint-Germain before he moved to Old Trafford.

Di Maria joined the club from Real Madrid but PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi insists he would have preferred to join the French outfit.

Al-Khelaifi has admitted that the club wouldn't meet Di Maria's valuation and as a result he moved to the Premier League.

Victor Valdes has reportedly agreed a one-year deal with Liverpool, according to the Daily Express.

The goalkeeper, who is currently sidelined with a cruciate knee ligament, is a free agent but Brendan Rodgers is hoping the Spaniard will provide competition for current number one Simon Mignolet.

TalkSPORT believe that Micah Richards turned down a new contract at the Etihad Stadium in favour of joining Serie A side Fiorentina.

The 26-year-old ended his long stay at City and could well join Fiorentina on a permanent basis next summer. Richards has admitted that City offered him a new deal but he was desperate to play more first-team football.

They also believe that Queens Park Rangers will make another bid for Jermain Defoe in the January transfer window. The R's missed out on a deadline-day move for the Toronto FC striker but Harry Redknapp is desperate to land him again.

The pair have worked together at West Ham, Portsmouth and Tottenham, and Redknapp will return with another bid in January, according to reports.
