Football Bet of the Day: Expect goals when the General goes into battle

Let's hope General Diaz celebrate more goals tonight

A winner from Colombia has taken Kevin Hatchard back into profit, and he's now looking for a another success in Paraguay.

General Diaz v Rubio Nu
Friday September 5th, 22:00

Delightful news from Colombia. The Insurers of La Equidad couldn't dream up a policy that would prevent them from losing 3-1 at Alianza Petrolera, and a 2.226/5 winner was ours to take us back into the black. After yesterday's success, I considered putting a picture of Shakira on all of my previews as a good luck token, but her lawyers said that will breach my restraining order.

Ah well, on to Paraguay! It's time for our first ever visit to the "Heart of America", and we have a mouth-watering clash between General Diaz and Rubio Nu. I'm assured that General Diaz is actually a team, and not just a guy in an army uniform trying to take on all comers. I'm now petitioning for General Lee from Takeshi's Castle to have a team named after him too.

General Diaz have made a mixed start to the season, with two wins, three defeats and a draw. They have won two of their three home games, losing the other 1-0 to Libertad. Rubio Nu wish they'd had a mixed start to the season, as they are rock-bottom of the 12-team Division Profesional. The side from the capital Asuncion have lost four of their six matches, winning just once.

Given Rubio Nu's feeble start to the campaign, you can see why the home team are trading at 1.9310/11 for the win. However, I'm more interested in the 2.0811/10 on offer for Over 2.5 Goals. General Diaz have scored nine goals and conceded nine in their first six league games, and half of those outings have contained three goals or more.

Rubio Nu unsurprisingly have the worst defence in the league, and are shipping as average of two goals per game. Backing Over 2.5 Goals has paid out in four of their six league games, including the last three.

Both teams have attacking players in form - Rubio Nu striker Alejandro Da Silva has netted three goals in his last two games, while teenage Colombian forward Cesar Caicedo bagged a brace for General Diaz against Deportivo Capiata just a fortnight ago. I can see goals in this one, so let's back the overs at 2.0811/10.
