Euro 2016 Qualifying Tips: New-look Spain to concede

Spain have kept just one clean sheet in their past four games

Michael Lintorn recommends bets for the Euro 2016 qualifiers in Austria, Estonia and Spain...

Austria v Sweden

Match Odds: Austria 2.466/4, Sweden 3.39/4, The Draw 3.3512/5

Austria and Sweden are pretty familiar having clashed in World Cup qualifying, trading 2-1 home triumphs. Neither made it to Brazil in the end, but both will be targeting the Euro 2016 play-offs at the very least after being paired with Russia, Montenegro, Moldova and Liechtenstein in Group G.

Both teams to score is the most appealing option for their Viennese opener given that Austria struck in every one of their home World Cup qualifiers and Sweden did likewise in their away ones. Austria notched and conceded in their three 2014 fixtures to date (against Uruguay, Iceland and Czech Republic).

Recommended Bet: Back both teams to score @ 1.9720/21

Estonia v Slovenia

Match Odds: Estonia 4.3100/30, Slovenia 2.0811/10, The Draw 3.412/5

This is the tastiest matchday one encounter in England's Group E besides their trip to Switzerland, an early opportunity to assess how competitive third seeds Slovenia are as they visit Estonia, who were unlikely Euro 2012 play-off participants yet have reverted to mediocrity since that enthralling burst.

Eight of Estonia's ten World Cup qualifiers saw just one side net, and seven of Slovenia's ten away days across the Euro 2012 and World Cup 2014 preliminaries denied both-teams-to-score backers a profit too. Since last August, Slovenia have contested nine successive games in which either they or their foes fired a blank.

Recommended Bet: Back both teams to score? No @ 1.84/5

Spain v Macedonia
Monday, 19:45
Live on Sky Sports 5

Match Odds: Spain 1.132/15, Macedonia 36.035/1, The Draw 11.010/1

Spain are in an awkward betwixt-eras phase - Xavi Hernandez, Xabi Alonso and David Villa have retired, several squad newcomers like Marc Bartra, Paco Alcacer and Munir El Haddidi are incredibly green - and their first match since a miserable World Cup ended in a 0-1 defeat away to Spain.

The defence is a mix of players with over a quarter-century of caps - Sergio Ramos, Jordi Alba and Raul Albiol - belatedly-integrated full backs - Cesar Azpilicueta and Juanfran - and fresher faces - Bartra, Mikel San Jose and Dani Carvajal. Their ongoing adaptation period, and the fact that six of Spain's previous eight qualifying guests scored past them, indicates a strong chance of concession.

Recommended Bet: Back Spain not to keep a clean sheet @ 2.6613/8
