The Brewers have made a great start to their League Two campaign
Andrew Hughes thinks Burton Albion will continue their strong start to the season on Sunday and help to land another cross-sport multiple in the process.
Bet 1: Back Burton to beat Portsmouth at 2.37n/a
After several miserable seasons, Portsmouth appear to be on the up again. Richie Barker steered them to mid-table safety last season and they've made a solid start to this campaign, losing just one of their League Two games and earning a brace of excellent cup victories over League One opponents.
But Burton's exploits have been even more impressive. After the disappointment of last season's play-off Final defeat, they've made a roaring start. The Brewers have won six of seven games in all competitions, including the notable scalps of Wigan and QPR in the Capital One Cup, and are top of the table.
Both sides have looked strong at the back so far this season, and Sunday's encounter could be a low-scoring affair, but Burton's form is much the stronger and with home advantage, the should be able to edge out Pompey.
Bet 2: Back Caroline Wozniacki to beat Serena Williams at 4.57/2
The US Open Women's Final looks, on paper at least, to be a one-sided affair. Serena Williams is going for her 18th Grand Slam title whilst Caroline Wozniacki is yet to win her first and has lost seven of her eight matches against Williams.
But this time, things could work out differently. Wozniacki is playing a more aggressive brand of tennis than that which took her to the world number one ranking in 2010 and 2011 and has already dumped Maria Sharapova, Andrea Petkovic and Sara Errani out of the tournament en route to the final.
Williams has yet to drop at set at Flushing Meadow, but her route to the final has been straightforward and it should be remembered that her form in Grand Slam events this year has been poor. Wozniacki knows her game well, and twice took Williams to three sets in US Open warm-up events, so should be able to put the reigning champion under pressure for the first time this tournament. Back her to cause a Sunday upset.
Bet 3: Back Back London Welsh to beat Exeter at 3.259/4
Two seasons back a protracted appeals process over the unsuitability of their ground meant London Welsh had little time to prepare for their Premiership campaign, yet they made a decent fist of things, winning six games.
This time round, nothing has been left to chance, with coach Justin Burnell overseeing the arrival of 25 players in the summer, nine of whom will make their debut on Sunday, including New Zealand scrum half Piri Weepu.
They have a tough finish to this season's schedule, so will be desperate to make a good start, and they can do just that against an Exeter team that will be missing at least five first team regulars, including England winger Jack Nowell and captain Dean Mumm. Back the Exiles to kick off in style with a home win.
