Chelsea star eyes Barca or Real Madrid move - Transfer Talk Thurs 3 July

If he loses his #1 spot at the Bridge, Cech has other plans...

The Luis Suarez story is obviously part of our transfer rumour round-up but there are plenty of other juict stories from the media today...

Luis Suarez is closing in on a summer move to Barcelona after Liverpool officials met with the Spanish club in London on Wednesday.

An Anfield source described the talks as "productive" and the Guardian claims Barcelona made a formal 70m offer for Suarez in a meeting with managing director Ian Ayre, although the fee is short of the 80m valuation set by Liverpool.

The Reds are still hoping to secure Barca and Chile winger Alexis Sanchez in a player-plus-cash deal for Suarez but according to the Independent, Arsenal could hijack the deal. It is thought the 25-year-old would prefer to join the Gunners and the report says Arsene Wenger - who is in Brazil working as a pundit for French television - will attempt to lure him to north London after launching a 32m offer.

The Daily Mail claims Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo wants to leave the Etihad Stadium and join Atletico Madrid this summer. Atletico have already had a 16.5m bid rejected by the Premier League champions, although it is thought Negredo could be allowed to leave if a substantial offer is made.

Reports in France say Man City have agreed a €40m fee with Porto for centre-back Eliaquim Mangala, although the defender is yet to speak with the club and will not decide his future until after the World Cup.

Across the city, Manchester United have been given the go-ahead to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho but will have to cough up 37m to activate his release clause. The club could part-fund the deal by selling midfield flop Marouane Fellaini, with incoming United boss Louis van Gaal preparing to sell the player this summer at a loss from the 27m they paid Everton last August.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports claim Petr Cech would prefer to join Barcelona or Real Madrid if he leaves Chelsea this summer. The goalkeeper's agent says Paris-Saint Germain and Monaco have already contacted him about a possible sale, which could go ahead if Thibaut Courtois is given the No.1 jersey at Stamford Bridge next season.

Finally, reports in the Daily Mail say Real Madrid have agreed a cut-price fee of €25m with Bayern Munich to sign Germany midfielder Toni Kroos, who has one year remaining on his deal with the Bundesliga champions.
