World Cup 11am Bulletin: Two odds-on failures on Saturday - will Sunday repeat?

Can Belgium get a second win today or will Russia upset the odds?

The surprising results are piling up in Brazil so who can we rely on today at the World Cup?

The World Cup continues to confound.

Just when it looked like we had a day when the favourites couldn't fail we get Argentina relying on last minute Lionel Messi brilliance to get past tournament 1000.0n/a shots Iran, Germany going behind having taken a 1-0 lead over Ghana and a Bosnia side fluffing its lines against a Nigeria side that hadn't won in 16 years at the World Cup.

All three had gone off at different shades of odds-on pre-match and just one obliged - Argentina at 1.152/13 - though Germany's supporters could have got out of the bet with an in-play lay, while Bosnia backers can point to Edin Dzeko's wrongly disallowed opener for their hard luck stories.

But in many ways it was just merely a continuation of the previous day when Costa Rica embarrassed Italy.

The good news is that today brings just one odds-on shot - Portugal trading at 1.834/5 to beat USA - so if you're searching for match odds winners and are lucky enough to find them you'll at least be getting decent returns.

Belgium's clash with Russia kicks us off today and this intriguing game will offer another chance to check on Marc Wilmots' team, fifth favourites before the tournament began, but who needed a second-half comeback to overcome Algeria in their opener. They should get another three points - and can be backed at 2.186/5 to do so - against Fabio Capello-led opposition, who lack creativity and rely on defensive strength to get through games.

After an explosive start to the tournament the goals have dried up slightly and that trend looks like continuing in the early kick-off with the 20:00 game likely to follow suit as defensive Algeria meet unimaginative South Korea.

The market has latched on, however, and under 2.5 goals trades at around 1.654/6 in both those games. So, a sure thing right? Well, as yesterday demonstrated in this tournament, it seems you can't be confident of anything at Brazil 2014.
