Home and Away: Modena to make most of home advantage

The battle for the Serie B play-off places hots up this evening The battle for the Serie B play-off places hots up this evening

Today's all about the I's, as we visit Italy and Ireland in search of profit...

Italy is the venue for our first selection of the day - as Modena welcome Spezia to the Stadio Alberto Braglia, looking to leapfrog Cesena into fourth place.

The hosts head into this clash sitting fifth themselves, and full of confidence following an unbeaten run which now stretches a whopping 16 outings - consisting four wins from their last half a dozen.

Walter Novellino's charges line up looking defensively sound following three clean sheets from four encounters, and they will be hoping that that's enough to see them through this final league tie of the campaign.

Visitors Spezia travel to Emilia-Romagna sitting eighth in the second tier, inside the play-off positions by just a point, but their recent away form has been way off the pace - and they are without a win in four.

Indeed, no goals scored in three of those outings indicates a lack of cutting edge in the away camp, and they'll be looking to the likes of Osariemen Ebagua, who has hit 13 so far this season, to find his hotshot form once again tonight.

Modena are unbeaten in five home meetings with their guests - and I reckon that they'll come up trumps here as well.

Bet 1: Modena (HOME) @ 2.111/10

To Ireland now, and the First Division, where Waterford United travel to Shamrock Rovers Reserves, buoyed by a 4-0 thrashing of Cobh Ramblers last time out.

Tommy Griffin's side have now won two of their last three fixtures, a return which has lifted them into fifth place in the table, and are now unbeaten in five of their last six away from their own patch - a run which has seen them secure a trio of clean sheets.

The Blues sit just three points off fourth placed Wexford Youths going into this encounter, and desperately need to grind out maximum points in order to pile the pressure on the top three.

Hosts Shamrock welcome their guests occupying seventh position - and without even a goal in their last four and a half hours of football.

That barren run threatens to derail their campaign, and a 6-0 humiliation in their last outing at Longford Town will have knocked morale in the home camp.

Colin Hawkins watched his side go down 2-0 to Wexford Youths in their last home clash, and will be keen to for them to turn around their fortunes - but I just can't see them getting any change from an in-form Waterford side.

Bet 2: Waterford United (AWAY) @ 2.01/1
