Hammarby have been in great form of late
Wrap up warm - because Sweden and Iceland are on the agenda today...
We're off to Sweden for the first pick of the new week, as an in-form Hammarby side make the trip to face lowly Sirius in the Superettan.
The visitors head into this encounter sitting second in the table, just three points away from leaders Sundsvall - but with a game in hand - and that will give them real belief that they can snatch a win on the road.
Nanne Bergstrand's charges certainly have reason to believe in themselves, with four straight wins home and away having seen them notch 10 - and with veteran Pablo Pinones-Arce having smashed seven goals in as many games this campaign, they will be keen for him to continue that impressive form.
Hosts Sirius go into this clash just two points outside the relegation zone, and that is largely down to some pretty uninspiring results since the beginning of last month.
Indeed, just one victory from six in May, consisting three defeats and two stalemates, will have the Studenternas side at a low ebb - and boss Kim Bergstrand will be desperate for his side to engineer a turnaround here.
The last time these two sides met, Hammarby edged it - and I expect their momentum to carry them over the line here, too.
Bet 1: Hammarby (AWAY) @ 2.25n/a
Heading across Scandinavia to Iceland now, where Valur host Fylkir in the Urvalsdeild.
The home side have won six of their last eight in the capital, scoring 26 goals, and that good form has lifted them to fifth in the table after the opening exchanges.
Magnus Gylfason's charges have long been impressive on their own patch - and just five defeats in a calendar year at the Vodafonevollurinn will have them full of momentum and morale ahead of this tie.
Visitors Fylkir line up for this clash sitting eighth in the table, and three defeats from their last five league outings indicates that they may well struggle to halt the Valur locomotive tonight.
Asmundar Arnarsson saw his side humiliated 5-2 in their last game away from the Fylkisvollur, and have kept just one clean sheet from their last 16 - a sloppy defensive record which does not bode well for this encounter.
Bet 2: Valur (HOME) @ 1.75/7
