The Irish are going to go goal crazy tonight
It's Irish Airtricty Premier Division action to kick off the week for Paul Robinson as he feels that there will be plenty of goals in the St Patrick's v Drogheda match.
St Patrick's v Drogheda
Monday June 2, 19:45 BST
St Patrick's are the reigning champions of Ireland but after fifteen games of the current campaign, they are down in fourth place, six points behind leaders, Dundalk. After a slow start to the year - half a dozen points from a possible 15 - The Saints have gone on to win seven of their next 10. It is worth noting though that it's just two victories from their last five matches.
Liam Buckley's side beat Derry City 5-2 on Friday night, and with 32 goals scored and 19 conceded so far this season, their fixtures are averaging 3.4 goals each time. A total of nine of their 15 have gone over 3.5 and their scorelines at their home of Richmond Park have been 1-1, 1-4, 1-0, 3-1, 4-0, 3-2 and 5-2.
Opponents, Drogheda, are down in ninth place after their 15 matches with only 15 points to their name. They come into this game on the back of three successive defeats, conceding a total of 13 goals in the process. Their leaky defence have now shipped an alarming 34 goals this year - three more than any other team - and their matches are averaging 3.47 goals per 90 minutes - the highest in the entire division.
Robbie Horgan's men have had eight of their 15 go over 3.5 goals and their scorelines away from United Park have been 2-2, 0-1, 1-1, 3-1, 2-1, 7-0 and 2-0. It is also worth remembering that when these two met back in April, St Pats won it by four goals to nil.
I fear for the Drogs here as their defence really has been a shambles this year and they have to go to a team who are scoring an average of over two per game. That's why, with under 3.5 goals trading at around the 1.584/7 mark, I have to make it my lay of the day.
