Can Fed do it again at Wimbledon?
It all begins in SW19 next week and, while the market rates the chances of Djokovic, Nadal, Murray and Federer, the betting looks closer than in previous years...
At first glance, the betting on the men's tournament at Wimbledon has a familiar look to it with the same four names dominating the market.
But while the list is still headed by Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer, the prices suggest we are in for as open a tournament as we've seen in a few years.
Djokovic, the 2011 champion and last year's losing finalist has not left Wimbledon before the semi-final stage in the last four tournaments, and the no.1 seed heads the betting at 2.789/5. The Serbian arrives at SW19 on the back of a French Open final defeat to Nadal, but it's not the Spaniard who is second in the betting. That honour goes to Murray, who will be attempting to defend his title of course.
Murray is 5.14/1 to follow up his 2013 victory. The 27-year-old has reached the last two finals, and made three straight semis in the three championships before that. His recent record is better than two-time winner Nadal, who tumbled out in the second round in 2012 and the first round in 2013, having won Wimbledon in 2010 and 2008.
No-one boasts a better Wimbledon record than Federer of course, and the Swiss trades in single figures (8.415/2) to win his eighth Wimbledon championships. The last of those titles came in 2012 and the 17-time grand slam winner was defeated in the second round last year but Federer proved his wellbeing on grass with a win in his regular warm-up event in Halle, Germany, last week.
Other contenders include Grigor Dimitrov 28.027/1 and Stan Warwinka 34.033/1. Tomas Berdych, Milos Raonic and Ernests Gulbis all trade around70.069/1.
