Thursday Transfer Rumours - Manchester United in for Kroos and Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain is wanted by both Manchester United and Barcelona

Money is burning a hole in Louis van Gaal's back pocket and if the papers are to be believed today - Toni Kroos and Gonzalo Higuain are two of the wanted men...

Manchester United's interest in Toni Kroos seemed destined for failure just a few weeks ago, but the midfielder has now indicated that he could be ready to walk away from Bayern Munich.

Kroos, who is currently on World Cup duty with Germany in Brazil, is under contract at the Allianz Arena for one more season and Bayern are eager for him to agree new terms, but the 24-year-old has confirmed he is yet to make a decision on his future.

The playmaker has already turned down one offer from the German giants, but Bayern are expected to return with an improved offer.

However, Manchester United are monitoring his situation closely, according to the Daily Express, and are ready to try and tempt Bayern into a sale should Kroos's contract talks continue to stall. United will face competition for his signature - with Premier League rivals Chelsea and European champions Real Madrid also understood to be keen.

Another player who could be heading to Old Trafford is Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain, who has been linked with a move away from Napoli after just one season with the Partenopei.

The 26-year-old has a fantastic goalscoring record with 17 goals in 31 Serie A appearances last term, having managed 107 in 190 La Liga appearances for former club Real Madrid, and Napoli are keen to keep hold but reports in Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport indicate he could be on the move.

Barcelona are considered the frontrunners in the battle for Higuain's signature after the striker admitted to being flattered by their reported interest, despite his six-year spell with fierce rivals Real, and the report claims the Catalan giants have already made a €55million offer for the Argentine hitman - but that Napoli are asking for €70m.

Arsenal have held a long-standing interest and Chelsea have also been tentatively linked with the forward, although the expected arrival of Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge could end any talk of Higuain joining the Blues.

Belgium star Eden Hazard has been linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer, but any speculation over his future now seems to be over. Paris Saint-Germain were the only club thought to be tracking the forward but their coach Laurent Blanc has now accepted defeat in the pursuit of Hazard.

Blanc told RMC: "We will recruit some players, one or two high quality. Hazard is a top player, but I think Chelsea wants to keep it."

Finally, Wilfried Bony's agent has claimed securing a move to Italian side Roma for the Swansea striker is a "top priority".

The Ivorian only joined the Swans in a 12million deal from Vitesse Arnhem last summer but he is already being linked with a big money move away.

The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and Borussia Dortmund have all been credited with an interest but the striker's agent, Dalibor Lavina, says a move to Roma is the preferred option should Bony leave Swansea.

He told Asromaradio.it: "It is always the club that will decide. I have spoken to Wilfried of this possibility.

"Roma remains our top priority, as a club that will play in the Champions League."
