Cross-Sport Multiple: Back Mexico to beat Ecuador

Mexico can get the better of Ecuador Mexico can get the better of Ecuador

Andrew Hughes thinks Mexico will continue their World Cup warm-up with a victory over fellow qualifiers Ecuador and help land a cross-sport multiple in the process.

Bet 1: Bet Mexico to beat Ecuador at 2.35/4

Mexico had a disastrous qualification campaign, qualifying for the World Cup thanks to a late brace from the USA against Panama, and a play-off with New Zealand.

But the 2012 Olympic Champions have some talented players and under new manager Miguel Herrera, there have been signs of improvement as they warm-up for the World Cup, their latest success being a 3-0 victory over Israel on Thursday.

Ecuador benefit from playing their home games at high altitude, so would be happy to play this game in Mexico City, but instead they must travel to Arlington, Texas. They are rare winners away from home, and with Mexico desperate to build momentum ahead of the World Cup, they are a solid bet.

Bet 2: Back England to beat Sri Lanka at 1.84/5

Three games into this ODI series, England are leading by two batting collapses to one, after skittling Sri Lanka out for 67 at Old Trafford on Wednesday, four days after they themselves were blown away for 99 at Chester-le-Street.

The return of Alastair Cook may have been a factor on Wednesday, but the Sri Lankan's vulnerability to short-pitched bowling was also once again in evidence, and that weakness could prove decisive on Saturday.

Neither side have shown much composure under pressure, but on a Lord's pitch likely to favour the quicker bowlers, England will have the edge, and should win.

Bet 3: Back Hull FC to beat London Broncos at 1.11/10

Neither side goes into Saturday's solitary Super League encounter in any sort of form, but I expect Hull FC to edge this one against the lowly Broncos.

Hull are on a poor run having gone four games without a win, but they have at least got some points on the board this season, which is more than can said for their opponents. Broncos have been in abysmal form, having lost all fourteen of their Super League games, and have only twice come within ten points of their opponents.

Hull's last victory was a 40-4 thrashing of the Broncos, a team they have beaten in four of their last five encounters. Back Hull to bag the points.
