Against All Odds: America RN to make amends

A trio of winners in the last three days has Paul Robinson in a good mood and he looks to continue that tonight as he feels that America RN have been underestimated for their trip to Sampaio Correa in the Brazilian Second Division...

Sampaio Correa are a club on the up following their promotion from Serie C last season. While they may not make the top four this year, they've made a solid start in Brazil's second tier as they're currently in ninth place with 12 points. 

Flvio Araujo's side come into this match on a four game unbeaten run - two wins and two draws. One of those victories did come against the imploding, Portuguesa, though and their record at home doesn't have the makings of an odds-on shot. The 'Bolivianos' have won just one of their four at the Castelo this term - drawing two and losing the other. They managed only one clean sheet during that period and conceded two to Parana, Oeste and Ceara.

America RN featured in this column this time last week as they again looked under-valued for an away match. Unfortunately for us they lost 1-0, but the goal came in the final minute of injury time and they've since put that behind them by beating Luverdense on Friday.

Leandro Sena's men have now been victorious in three of their last five fixtures and prior to the 1-0 defeat at third placed, Joinville, they'd won their last two on the road. They will be keen to take all three points tonight, and if they do, they could find themselves in the promotion places.

I'm quite surprised at how short the hosts are for this match as they are no world beaters and America RN have had some good results of late. That's why, with Sampaio Correa trading at around the 1.8810/11 mark, I have to make them my lay of the day.
