Timeform UK SmartPlays: Tuesday September 4

Sir Mark Prescott's Gassin Golf is worth supporting today.
Three races from Goodwood's interesting-looking midweek card feature in today's SmartPlays...
Despite being the only one of those racing in a decent-looking nursery yet to win, Sejalaat (15:30) can provide John Dunlop with another winner at his local track now that the yard is firing after a long period in the doldrums this campaign. The son of Kheleyf can race off the same mark as when third behind Capo Rosso in a similar event at Haydock last month and, provided he can settle better than on that occasion, holds decent claims of breaking his duck here.
The race that follows is a listed event also for two-year-olds and, while the likely hot-pot Steeler is undoubtedly the form choice after chasing home Dundonnell in the Group 3 Acomb Stakes at York's Ebor festival recently, he could be worth taking on with the Richard Hannon-trained Professor (16:05). Impressive when making a winning debut at Haydock in July, he looks well worth another chance after having excuses when an odds-on last of four in a novice event there the following month.
The stayers get their opportunity to strut their stuff in the two mile handicap that is next on the card and despite a 7 lb hike in the weights for a narrow defeat at the hands of Maastricht at Doncaster last month, Gassin Golf (16:40) still looks well-treated and should relish this step up to two miles. The third horse home that day was 13-lengths back and victory here may well seal his place in next month's Cesarewitch.
