Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Carberry and Meade to provide safe Haven

Two winners and a near miss for this column yesterday proides confidence aplenty ahead of Tuesday's selections...
Westhaven has proved somewhat frustrating in his hurdles career to date, but in a race lacking any real strength-in-depth he ought to make the most of this afternoon's opportunity in the 16:20 maiden hurdle. A dual winner on the Flat in 2011 for David Elsworth, he is worth forgiving a below-par run at Kilbeggan last month given that he had shaped nicely when runner-up in two starts in July and looks capable of breaking his duck to get backers off to a good start.
From the powerful Noel Meade stable to the perennial champion trainer Willie Mullins, and Chiltern Hills looks worth another chance to get her head in front in the 18:00 mares maiden hurdle. Shouldering a customary penalty for bumper success at Wexford in May, the daughter of Beneficial has proved slightly disappointing in two starts over timber at Ballinrobe this summer (sent off 5/4 favourite on both occasions). Nevertheless, she promises to be better suited by the step up in trip this evening, and will hopefully complete the first leg of a quick-fire Emmet/Willie Mullins double.
Indeed, in the next race on the card it is stablemate Zadarska who is fancied to score at the third time of asking over timber in the 18:30. One of the yard's lesser lights in bumpers, he has done little wrong since sent over obstacles having been placed between two miles and three miles at Bellewstown and Roscommon in recent months. He appears to have been found a good opportunity this evening, and ought to add the champion trainer's win tally.
