Capital One Cup: Norwich could be done by Doncaster

Chris Hughton's priorities will surely lie with the Premier League

Christian Crowther evaluates three of Wednesday's Capital One Cup fixtures, highlighting possible betting opportunities...

QPR v Reading, Wednesday 19:45, Match Odds: QPR 1.910/11, Reading 4.47/2, The Draw 3.9n/a
QPR fans will feel still be feeling aggrieved after their best away performance of the season at Tottenham unravelled in a five-minute spell which saw them first relinquish their lead, and then the points. However, a visit from Reading should serve as a good chance to make amends. As Opta tell us, visitors Reading have won just one of their last six games in all competitions against QPR. Judging by the strength of the teams the managers fielded in the last round, both will be desperate to win this derby-like battle of the Hoops. Reading have scored in nine of their last ten Capital One Cup matches so goals should be in the offing.
Recommended Bet: Back Both teams to score @ 1.784/5

West Brom v Liverpool, Wednesday 19:45, Match Odds: West Brom 2.915/8, Liverpool 2.6213/8, The Draw 3.55/2
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers publically bemoaned his luck after rivals Man United somehow found a way to win at Anfield on Sunday despite being outplayed for most of the match. He may have had a case but what was painfully evident was the Reds' lack of firepower, compounded further by the injury to forward Fabio Borini. And as Opta inform us this won't be an easy place for the holders to come as the Baggies have lost just once this season and have won all of their home games to date. Rodgers is likely to blood his youngsters again and, with Europa League commitments also pressing, this may be one competition he could do without.
Recommended Bet: Back West Brom to beat Liverpool @ 2.915/8

Norwich v Doncaster, Wednesday 19:45, Match Odds: Norwich 1.574/7, Doncaster 6.611/2, The Draw 4.3100/30
This competition has not yielded any joy whatsoever for Norwich since reaching the quarter-finals in 1995/96 - the last time they progressed beyond this round. Last year, they went out 4-0 at home to League One opposition in MK Dons in the second round. Under Chris Hughton, Norwich have shown commendable spirit as is now customary, however a serious lack of goals has prevented them from getting on top in any of their Premier League fixtures to date, culminating in a five-game winless streak. With a probable emphasis on correcting their league form, Hughton may well rest players, which could see Doncaster cause an upset.
Recommended Bet: Back Doncaster to beat Norwich @ 6.611/2
