14:45 Perth - Beef To The Heels

He was in the process of running a big race, making progress into a challenging position, when falling three out in a race won by Prince Of Fire last time out. That form would probably be enough to put him in the frame in this race but, as a winner of a hurdle, he has to carry 7lb penalty. The only other winners in the race are the mares, which means he's giving weight away all round. But the good ground is in his favour and he looks to have solid claims.

15:20 Perth - Carlito Brigante

We've tried hard to get him back on the track after his run at Kilbeggan, where he was found to be wrong post-race, but the weather has continually frustrated us. However, we're travelling over with him because he should have his ideal conditions this afternoon and on official ratings he's clearly the one to beat. Fingers crossed he can jump around safely and use the opportunity to get back to winning ways.

15:55 Perth - Romanesco

We just have to write off his last race, when he unseated Emmet (McNamara) at the first flight. That was just his second run for us and he ran a nice race when fourth at this track just a couple of weeks prior to that. We're still learning with him but hopefully he will win races for us. Jason Maguire will drop him in, take his time and hope to deliver him late today.

17:35 Perth - Captain Pierce

This is a very competitive race, with three winners in the line-up, but ours is a nice horse. He works well at home and as long as the rain stays away he should run a good race. As with all of our newcomers, he'll come on for the experience but we'll be a little disappointed if he's not in the frame.
