Racing Post Greyhound TV Tips: Eske to enhance his reputation further

Ballymac Eske bids to enhance his reputation at Hove tonight

The Lord runs the rule over the live greyhound action screened on RPGTV over the next few nights, and it includes the best dog in the country going for Olympic gold!

Three terrific nights of RPGTV action kick off on Thursday with the best dog in the country in the shape of Ballymac Eske (21:06), who is a red-hot favourite to win Olympic gold at Hove tonight to enhance his reputation still further if that's possible!

Barrie Draper unleashes both his star youngsters tonight on RPGTV with Eske at Hove and Farloe Warhawk running in the heats of the Primus Telecom Henlow Derby. Indeed, in terms of overall quality on both TV cards, has there been a better Thursday?

Starting at Hove and, aside from Ballymac Eske who will have only the layers taking a chance of a missed break, strong-running Lenson Ginger (20:18) gets the vote over earlybird Hollyway Road ovcer 515 after a good time in defeat last week.

The match-up between Mr Chow and Ballymac Wander (20:34) is interesting over 695m, with the latter just fancied to get first run and perhaps leave the powerful TV Trophy-bound Mr Chow with too much to do late on.

Britania Richard (21:40) won well last week as he continues his comeback from injury and should soon be in the vanguard position over 515m, while a rare John Coleman runner catches the eye when progressive youngster Special Release (22:26) runs in the lucky last, and is fancied.

At Henlow, the Derby heats look set to go to in-form Droopys Reason (20:26) to reverse form with Ayamzaman; defending champion Taylors Sky (20:42); bang-in-form and classy Bush Bandit (20:58); back-from-injury and improving Taranis Rex (21:15) and different class Farloe Warhawk (21:48).

That leaves just heat five where Be Real (21:32) is fancied to upset speedster Loughteen Blanco on the basis that the former has solid for at Henlow which can be a tough track to adjust to first time, even through the jolly has a previous trial back in August.

On to Friday, which sees one of the biggest nights of the year at Romford with the Puppy Cup final the showpiece event - with the sideshow of the battle to be champion trainer making the 8,000 final even more intriguing.

Paul Young (Ballymac Josh) and Mark Wallis (Glanmore Lad) are going head-to-head and victory for Young would make it interesting as he closes the gap on leader Wallis. However, victory for the latter might just seal the deal!

And it might be that Glanmire Lad (21:24) is the one to crack and make all, although it will not be easy with the likes of Express Rover and Lenson Champ on his outside, and it might be a race to watch rather than become involved.

Bets worth getting stuck into, however, include well-drawn Monleek Town (19:31) in the opener; unlucky-last-week Mindcraft (20:18); impressive-last-week Rebellious Cause (20:50) and speedy early-pacer Dixies Air (21:06).

But the best bet of all might be Belverdere Emma (22:11) after a superb run through to win at Yarmouth last week, despite the fact she never really enjoyed the clearest of runs. And her kennelmate Isheforreal loves Romford and could get first run in the 22:26.

Finally, arguably the classiest act of the night, Smiler Jack (22:40) runs in the lucky last and Chris Mosdall's wins if repeating his fantastic, runaway Champion Stakes win. However, the layers will be keen to take him on after being beaten at Wimbledon last time.
