13:15 - Likely favourite Power of Light heads the market on potential rather than what she has achieved and could be worth taking on with Waterway Run, who looked a filly to keep on side when spreadeagling her field in a York nursery earlier this month. I'm also tempted to throw in the thriving Jamesbo's Girl, who looks worthy at a shot at this level.
13:45 - Thistle Bird is thriving at the moment, winning her third one-mile listed event of the campaign up against the boys at Haydock earlier this month, and she's hard to leave out back against her own sex this afternoon. Quite a few of these have a realistic chance of making the frame so I'm also including Irish History, who was good enough to make the frame in a couple of Group 1s this year and wasn't seen to best effect behind Dank at Sandown last time.
14:20 - The Nayef Joel Stakes looks desperately competitive so I am going to include three in this. Market leader Much Improved doesn't look the most solid of favourites given he has a penalty to carry and ran poorly in France when last seen, so he's taken on with fellow three-year-olds Sovereign Debt and Trumpet Major, while the classy Fanunalter is included from the old brigade.
14:55 - Certify has done nothing wrong in all three of her starts and looks a worthy favourite, so I would be taking a big risk if I were to leave her out. With only two places up for grabs, i'm going to be extra safe and also include the fast-improving Roz as backup.
15:25 - The market is often a key guide to the outcome of maidens, especially big-field events made up mostly of newcomers. Having just had a quick peak of the prices on Betfair, the market tells me that Dare To Achieve is ready to give a good account of himself. Experience usually counts for plenty, too, so Stamford is also selected, having shown enough to suggest he can win a maiden when third on his debut in June.
16:00 - In the final leg, Godolphin pair Retrieve and Songcraft look the most solid options given the rest have something to prove for one reason or another. I was tempted to bank on the former but have decided to include them both with only two places on offer.
