Is the booking of William Buick on Rocket Rob significant?
Today's movers come from the meetings at Beverley and Sandown.
Starting off in the 14:00 5f Nursery at Beverley, where we have just about the best backed horse of the day in the shape of Miss Perfect. Highs this morning of 19.5n/a were quickly snapped up, and she is now trading at around the 7.26/1 mark. There have been promising signs in her opening races over six and seven furlongs, before she fluffed her lines at Redcar last week. Now dropped to the minimum distance, and in a weak looking race the confidence for Miss Perfect should be significant, and she is taken to gain her first win today.
Rocket Rob has been well backed in the opening contest at Sandown (14:20), moving from around 5.49/2 in to 3.814/5. The five furlong course at Sandown rises pretty much throughout, and takes all the getting, even on today's forecast of good to firm going. Our selection has shown a genuine liking for the course having won over C&D twice, and has shown a good level of form in his last few races without troubling the judge. A hold-up performer, he met all sorts of trouble when finishing fast, while still on the bridle, at Newmarket 26 days ago so might need a bit of luck from his starting berth of stall 1. However, the booking of top class pilot William Buick is interesting and Rocket Rob is taken to resume winning ways on a course he loves today.
Just the six runners line up to contest the 16:45 1m4f Handicap at Beverley, where we have seen Luca Cumani's Kiwayu drift all morning from opening exchanges of 2.47/5 out to 3.211/5. On paper he looks the one to beat as he has shown very good form for this level in his last couple of races. There are a couple of fairly unexposed looking types lurking though, with Cape Explorer and Spanish Wedding attracting support. Overall Kiwayu rates as our lay today.
