Tuesday Football Tips: Bristol City and Barnet to deliver

Martin Allen's Barnet have built a commanding Conference lead

Michael Lintorn offers three bets for Tuesday night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy and Conference action...

Bristol City v AFC Wimbledon (Tuesday, 19:45)

Match Odds: Bristol City 1.444/9, AFC Wimbledon 8.27/1, The Draw 5.04/1

AFC Wimbledon will attempt to call on their game-raising expertise for this trip to the League One leaders. They were victorious at MK Dons in the last round and have taken points from six of the top seven in their division, League Two, whilst failing to beat anyone lower than tenth.

They might also find encouragement in the fact that Bristol City were dumped out of the Capital One Cup at home to another bottom-half fourth-tier club in Oxford. However, they haven't lost in 17 fixtures since, winning ten in 14 as well as five of their latest six at Ashton Gate. Steve Cotterill's men were level at the break in four of those though, hinting at a half-time/full-time punting opportunity.

Recommended Bet: Back Draw/Bristol City @ 4.67/2

Leyton Orient v Northampton (Tuesday, 19:45)

Match Odds: Leyton Orient 1.738/11, Northampton 5.69/2, The Draw 3.9n/a

The trivia question "why are Leyton Orient a point off the League One relegation zone six months after finishing third and contesting the play-off final, despite an impressive summer transfer campaign?" can be answered fairly easily: they haven't won a single home match.

It is a very strange situation, yet while the O's have an admirable away record reading P13 W6 D5 L2, they have far uglier figures of P9 W0 D3 L6 at the Matchroom Stadium. You couldn't therefore back them at odds-on against a Northampton side who avoided defeat in three of their previous five away outings and triumphed at Wolves in the Capital One Cup.

Recommended Bet: Lay Leyton Orient to win @ 1.748/11

Barnet v Torquay
Tuesday, 20:00
Live on BT Sport 1

Match Odds: Barnet 1.9620/21, Torquay 4.1n/a, The Draw 3.814/5

Torquay are six months removed from being in the Football League, but they have been far less effective than Barnet in the Conference Premier this season. Barnet consequently look exceptional value at around the evens mark.

The Bees are top of the table with a nine-point buffer over nearest rivals Grimsby in Martin Allen's fourth stint as manager having won 13 and drawn three of their opening 19 fixtures. They have earned six wins in nine as hosts, including three in four, and haven't dropped a point in three games.

By contrast, their visitors are down in 12th place primarily due to their issues on the road. They have lost five of their last six league encounters, including four in a row away.

Recommended Bet: Back Barnet to win @ 1.9620/21
