John dunlop trains Man of PlentyThree Flat meetings throughout the afternoon spread right across the country and a distinctly autumn feel with biggish fields again the order of the day. David Johnson has managed to find a couple of bets though...
Backing Sir Mark Prescott-trained 3-y-os in handicaps isn't a particularly big or clever system, but it remains a profitable one, as does his record with 3-y-os at Catterick, producing 7 wins from 18 runners over the last five seasons at a strike rate of 39%. Combining the two makes Bold Cuffs a rock solid selection for the 4.30.
Although Bold Cuffs has been beaten on his last two starts off today's mark, I'm convinced he can defy it, as he's had excuses on both occasions, again ridden too aggressively behind Bank Bonus at Chester last time. Providing Chris Catlin doesn't get embroiled in a battle for the lead with hat-trick seeking Authentication, Bold Cuffs should be able to resume winning ways.
Despite coming quite late in the season, the 4.10 at Leicester often proves an informative handicap, and nothing appeals more than Man Of Plenty. He's rising up the handicap without getting his head in front, but I think he's been unlucky to run into two very well handicapped opponents, firstly Rye House back at Windsor in the spring and Signed Up at Goodwood last time. I'm not sure he's up against anything of that quality here, and I think he should be favourite.
Recommended Bets:
Back Bold Cuffs in the 4.30 at Catterick @ 4.67/2 (NAP)
Back Man Of Plenty in the 4.10 at Leicester @ 6.611/2 (NB)
