World Series Tips: Detroit to foil Giants' sweep?

Peter reckons Detroit are about to pick up a win

After last night's win, San Francisco are 1.758/11 to pull off the 4-0 World Series clean sweep. Peter Dolan explains why he believes Detroit are about to claw one back...

San Francisco Giants @ Detroit Tigers (San Francsico lead 3-0)

Last night I predicted San Francisco would win and they did just that. Ryan Vogelsong pitched 5.2 innings and Tom Lincecum pitched 2.1 innings of relief to shut out the Tigers to win 2-0 for the second consecutive game.

Tonight's pitching matchup sees the Giants' Matt Cain, 16-5 2.79 ERA in the regular season and a post-season record of 2-2 3.52 ERA, take on the Tigers' Max Scherzer, 16-7 3.74 ERA and 1-0 0.82 ERA in the post-season.

Cain has given up nine runs over four games this post-season and the Tigers will look to capitalise on this. With the bat Detroit are .165 this World Series, scoring just three runs.

Scherzer has given up one earned run in two post-season games, but he is 1-3 with a 5.12 ERA lifetime against the Giants.

The question is will San Francisco win tonight for the sweep and be crowned World Series Champions, or will Detroit come out fighting, looking to extend this series and give themselves a glimmer of hope?

I think that Detroit can win tonight, but I wouldn't be backing them to win the series at 109/1!
