Andrew Balding's Praire Ranger is one of Richard's bets
Richard Hoiles brings you a bet from Newmarket and Worcester on Wednesday...
A card as much about the future as the present at Newmarket today but Prairie Ranger (16.10) showed enough on debut to be of interest. Shuffled back on the home turn at Windsor, he made a promising move on the outer wing of the field before getting tired a furlong out in a race which favoured those ridden forward. With ground queries for both Fledged and Street Map on their debuts, Prairie Ranger is worth backing to show the benefit of the debut run.
Identifying trainers capable of improving horses that move to their yards can be a useful angle and so, in a poor race, Magical Treasure (15.15 Worcester) is worth considering on his first start for Sarah Kerswell. Sarah has won with two of the three horses to move to her yard at prices of 12-1 and 25-1, whilst the other traded short in running when rain turned the ground against him.
Finally whilst it is dangerous to predict track biases in advance, all of you playing in running should note that on heavy ground at Fontwell those travelling towards the outside down the back straight on the hurdles course have looked to have a significant advantage over those kept to the inner.
Recommended Bets:
Back Magical Treasure @ 5.39/2 in the 15:15 at Worcester
Back Prairie Ranger @ 4.57/2 in the 16:10 at Newmarket
