Hernandez scored two tonight
Stunning starts at Old Trafford and the Nou Camp make what looked likely to be quiet night a cracking one for bettors...
Manchester United drifted to 4.67/2 after Braga took a shock lead at Old Trafford thanks to striker Alan. The Brazilian was matched at 36.035/1 to open the scoring and he did so with aplomb, powering a second minute header past David De Gea. Eighteen minutes later he was at it again.
United hit back when Javier Hernandez bundled in his first of the evening. But the Portuguese side continued to look dangerous and United struggled to make the breakthrough. The half-time 1-2 scoreline was matched at a mega 75.074/1.
Sir Alex Ferguson sent his team out with a renewed sense of purpose after the break and, just after the hour, Jonny Evans levelled. United kept pressing and there was a sense of inevitability about Hernandez's 75th goal which made the score 3-2.
Braga continued to create chances and the jittery De Gea almost gifted them an equaliser. However, United held on and, with three consecutive wins now under their belt, they're a mere 1.051/20 to win Group H. They will have to up their defending considerably if they're to reward anyone willing to back them at 13.5n/a to win the tournament.
Mind you, United will have a chance if the holders and the favourites play as they both did this evening. There were astonishing scenes at the Nou Camp where Georgios Samaras was matched at 40.039/1 to be first goalscorer. The much mocked Greek headed Celtic in to a shock lead after 18 minutes and, although Andreas Iniesta's razor sharp equaliser underlined the gulf in talent between the teams, the Bhoys deserved to be level at the break.
That's how it remained until Jordi Alba's injury-time goal gave Barcelona victory. Neil Lennon was devastated at the final whistle but his side certainly gave bettors something to cheer as the Catalans drifted to 13.012/1 for their win.
Roberto Di Matteo tasted defeat as Chelsea manager for the first time as they lost 2-1 away to Shakhtar Donetsk. The Blues trailed to goals in either half and, although Oscar gave them hope with an 88th minute strike, the hosts were good value for their win. Shakhtar touched 2.6813/8 and Chelsea are out to 19.018/1 to retain the Champions League.
Elsewhere, Valencia eased past BATE Borisov, earning a 3-0 away win, Bayern Munich continued their excellent form with a 1-0 win against Lille in France and Spartak Moscow were backed at 3.259/4 as they beat Benfica 2-1 in a pulsating match. There were two 1-1 draw, as Galatasaray came from a goal down against Cluj and Nordsjaelland held the mighty Juventus. The draw was matched at 5.85/1.
